Gordon Moody Association has over 40 years’ experience of providing specialised support and treatment to acutely addicted gamblers, (until 2010 we were known as Gordon House). This has allowed us to develop treatment interventions that are purely gambling focused and address the extremes of associated behaviours. We provide residential therapeutic care (known as Tier 4 care) and online support to problem gamblers. We have recently secured 3-year funding further to a pilot treatment programme for women. This programme provides 12 weekly therapy sessions combined with two short stay residential workshops and we are running our first male only pilot in the autumn.
Our residential services are based at our two centres in Beckenham and Dudley). We are able to offer treatment to acutely addicted gamblers at no charge if the clients have no other funds. The continued global development of online gambling has only served to restate the importance of a single access point to multilingual help and support for anyone concerned that their gambling may be causing them harm. With an increasing number of countries seeking to license and regulate online gambling we have received growing calls for Gambling Therapy to continue to develop its provision of help, support and counselling in languages other than English.
The Chair of Gordon Moody Association would like to appoint a Trustee to the Board who is clinically qualified with an addiction background to ensure that the charity’s services have sufficient clinical oversight. You will also help us to use our resources wisely to achieve our purpose. Experience of treating gambling would be ideal but not essential.
As a Trustee, you should be able to make a commitment to the Charity and its mission, ensuring that it is effectively managed in line with its core values. You will have strategic vision, independent judgement and an ability to think creatively.
